Dear Kobe,

Some of my best memories of being with my family and hanging out with friends and my cousin that passed away when we were teenagers was because of you. Nothing brought my family together more than watching you win for us. Nothing made me feel more proud of being from south LA the way you brought honor and joy to the meaning of “being from LA”. You make that special for me and having your poster on my freshman dorm wall made that room a home for me. Gianna, I am so sorry you didn’t deserve that. I wanted to see you gracing the la sparks team with your presence.. thinking of the future you would have had makes this unbearable. I hope you know you and your dad inspired us all. Sleep peacefully mamba and mambacita. It’s well deserved and earned rest. 💜💛
